The Process of Labour and Childbirth

Your body is beautifully designed for birth. In this class, we’ll cover the basics of labour and birth — including key anatomy, stages of labour, signs of impending labour, and when to head to your clinic or birthing centre.
We’ll help you replace fear with understanding by exploring how labour works, why most of it is pain-free, and how to work with your body’s natural rhythms. Discover why labour pain is often misunderstood — and how it can be a powerful ally.

A woman’s Experience and Needs in Labour

This class explores what labour feels like and what a mother needs—mentally, emotionally, and physically—through each stage. Learn how to respond to contractions to ease pain, how needs shift as labour progresses, and how partners can provide meaningful support. We’ll also cover natural pain management techniques, the difference between pain and suffering, and help partners define the role they’d like to play during the birth.

This class covers medical pain relief, epidurals, and what to expect during a caesarean. We’ll explore how knowledge, preparation, and informed choices can help parents feel more confident, in control, and connected to their baby’s birth—no matter how it unfolds.
